URGENT CARE

Pet Urgent Care Services

Some pet conditions and injuries just can't wait, so here at Evans East Animal Hospital our Denver veterinary team offers urgent care and emergency care hours to both our own clients and new clients on a walk-in basis. Getting prompt attention for trauma and extreme discomfort is essential for both you and your pet, and will alleviate pain and allow him to recover more swiftly.

.

What is Considered a Pet Emergency?

Emergency pet services cover a wide range of conditions, but the primary factor in determining if something is an emergency is your pet. If he has had a trauma, like a fall, auto injury, or encounter with wildlife, he needs to be seen right away. Ingesting a toxic substance, eating harmful foods (chicken bones, chocolate, or even your houseplants) should also trigger a call to the vet.

A pet that is otherwise healthy and that is showing minor symptoms or behaving differently may need an appointment soon, but not as an emergency. You know your pet best, and the more out of the ordinary his behavior is, the more important it is for him to be seen. A quick call to our Denver office can usually help determine if you should come in immediately or within the next 24 hours.

What Happens at an Urgent Care Visit?

An emergency visit is different from a routine wellness care appointment. Your pet will still be weighed and examined, but the doctor's focus will be on the issue that is causing him pain or harm. Your pet may need x-rays or other tests or medication to feel better, and the only way to tell the best course of action is to have a veterinary examination. Once the cause of the symptoms is determined, our team can help outline your treatment options, and in many cases, ease the troublesome symptoms quickly as well.

In some cases, your pet may have to stay overnight for extra observation or be scheduled for a surgical procedure, If this is the case, you'll be walked through the process and given full details on his condition, expected treatment, and recovery time.
